Intensity of Being
Zaire Kaczmarski, now living in the US, was born and raised in Venezuela. Here, she shares her thoughts on a photograph of her mother as a child.
Zaire is an interdisciplinary artist born and raised in Venezuela. In her work, she addresses identity, memory and relationships to encourage awareness of a collective oneness and the self.
While solo performances use meditative practices as a vehicle for the exploration of the self, this is not enough. In collaborative performances she uses improvisation, choreographed movement, and actions like walking, marching, or intertwining as tools to expose the self to environments and others, and negotiate with the Other to set the stage for public exchange.
Her work has been shown in museums and galleries around the country including Mint Museum Uptown, McColl Center for Art + Innovation, Blue Spiral 1 Gallery, and Queens University. In 2016 she was awarded the Regional Artist Project Grants from the Arts & Science Council in North Carolina.
Zaire is currently working and living in New York.
